The impact of proactive personality and locus of control on career satisfaction and innovative work behavior

The purpose of the current study is to investigate the effects of employees' proactive personality and locus of control on their career satisfaction and innovative work behavior. The sample of the study contains four- and five-star hotels employees working in Nevsehir. Data is collected using a questionnaire and 166 applicable questionnaires are gathered at the end of the study. According to the results of SEM analysis, proactive personality positively affects career satisfaction and innovative work behavior. Internal locus of control, which is the dimension of locus of control, positively affects career satisfaction but there is no significant effect on innovative work behavior. It is observed that the external locus of control negatively affects both career satisfaction and innovative work behavior.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, çalışanların proaktif kişilik ve kontrol odaklarının, onların kariyer tatminleri ve yenilikçi iş davranışlarına etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Nevşehir İli’nde yer alan dört ve beş yıldızlı otel çalışanları oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak anket tekniği kullanılmıştır ve araştırma sonunda 166 geçerli anket toplanmıştır. Yapılan yapısal eşitlik modeli analizi sonuçlarına göre, proaktif kişiliğin kariyer tatmini ve yenilikçi iş davranışına pozitif etki ettiği görülmektedir. Kontrol odağı boyutlarından, iç kontrol odağı kariyer tatminini pozitif etkilemekte ancak yenilikçi iş davranışı üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmamaktadır. Dış kontrol odağının ise hem kariyer tatminini, hem de yenilikçi iş davranışını negatif etkilediği görülmektedir.
